## Notes
### Action items from last meeting
* Invite Philippe Deniel to the next DDG meeting
* Background is the inter-project (IO-SEA/DEEP-SEA) interactions on the co-design applications
* SAB NDA process:
* https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PI1iHOP2d61KEOAD74O_gNll-b1zY_KbCw-RVA9IFL0/edit#gid=1228950445 Tab: SAB members: Contact info
* Six out of nine SAB members signed the NDA
* New proposal: Evgueny Khartchenko (Intel)
* Objections shall be stated before Tuesday, October 12^th^
* To be discussed in the ToW call in two weeks?
### Optimization cycles and preparation of D3.1
* Slide are [here](https://bscw.zam.kfa-juelich.de/bscw/bscw.cgi/d3722485/211006%20D31preparation.pdf)
* Next steps:
* All further work in the $LaTeX$ document
* Descriptions of building blocks shall be ready ASAP
* Description of optimization cycles by next DDG (i.e. October 20^th^)
* Building blocks not in any optimization cycle
* Create a more application developer oriented description of these single building blocks in a similar fashion as the optimization cycle
* Currently only GPI/GPI-Space is affected
* Might appear in one of the Malleability cycles still missing
### WP1 -- Co-design applications
* Testing and documentation of heterogeneous jobs on DEEP-EST cluster.
* All traces should be done on DEEP-EST cluster if possible
* What's the best way to store and track traces. How to link to git still under investigation.
* Can inherited permissions be restricted? Probably not.
### WP2 -- Measuring, Modelling, Mapping and Monitoring
* Discussion on upcoming reports (D7.3, mid-term report)
* RISC-V support is planned to in MUSA
### WP3 -- Software Architecture and System Software
* Monitoring cycle
* Can provide information on which cycle to use for further optimizing the application
* Should be pluged into other cycles
* Describe it seperately and first (mentioning that this can be part of all the other cycles)
* Merging of optimization cycles
* No further candidates identified
* Try to find interactions between the cycles while writing the descriptions
* Transfer optimization cycles to main document
* Responsible persons correspond to the presenters in the DEEP-SEA seminar
* Use [draw.io](https://draw.io) for the pictures
* Provide a description of the cycle including possible relation to other cycles
* Explain how it will work in the future and explain what is necessary to do to make it work
* Questions to answer
∗ What can the human developer expect?
∗ What is expected from the human developer?
∗ Refer to the building block description
∗ Assumption on which information has to be exchanged between the components/building blocks
### WP4 -- Node-level programming
* D7.3: delayed one or two days; draft of all content with WP4
### WP5 -- System-level programming
* D7.3: WP5 section reviewed and sent to PMT
* Waiting on Q2 partners updates (mostly PMs chasing)
* No technical unexpected difficulties in tasks progression
### Co-Design process to define the Software Architecture
* This week's seminar on "Emulating a Cluster with Docker"
* Seminars presenting the optimization cycles on October 15^th^ and 22^nd^
### AoB
* All hands meeting on the Events section of the [central landing page](https://gitlab.jsc.fz-juelich.de/hedgedoc/5UPCNFrTRJOCWNsAnQZPGg#)?
* D. Gottwald will take care of that
* Request to also link WP6 -> J. Schulze
* Landing page might be improved by any project member
* RISC-V question from PO. Suggestion for answer: *"The DEEP-SEA project develops a software stack to support heterogeneous systems. As such, our developments are agnostic to the exact underlying hardware and generally support different ISAs. Therefore, the work that we do in DEEP-SEA will also benefit the RISC-V environment. In some specific examples, we even work on software packages that have specific backends for RISC-V (developed within other projects). For example, the DaCE programming model from ETHZ has a specific backend for RISC-V, the MUSA tool from BSC has support for the vector extensions of RISC-V, and the GPI-2 communication library from FhG-ITWM supports RISC-V."*
* Suggestions for possible reviewers:
* Marie-Christine Sawley: https://ch.linkedin.com/in/marie-christine-sawley-70b5534
* Maria Angeles Navarro (former reviewer of DEEP-EST and ExaNeSt): https://www.ac.uma.es/~angeles/
* Anne-Claire Fouilloux (former DEEP-EST reviewer): https://www.mn.uio.no/geo/english/people/adm/annefou/
* **Any objection to these names or suggestions for others? If so, please send email to PMT by end of this week**
## Actions
* Further work on SAB NDA process and P. Radojkovic's proposal
* Provide feedback on proposed reviewers (and/or name more)
* Work on D3.1
## Next Meeting:   20^th^ October 15:00--16:00 CEST
