MPI I/O and large particle counts
While updating types on pepc-v
I noticed that MPI routines for I/O have the particle count as kind_particle
which is integer*8
and not compatible with MPI parameters. So a conversion is required. If the particle count is large enough, this will break I/O?
Check if and when this causes problems (I imagine the particle count could be local, so smaller than integer*8
thus making the conversion work. If, however, a total number is needed at some point this may not work. Surely this is a common problem (and I'm missing something here).
